SEO Link Building – A Simple Guideline for Beginners

Building back links or inbound links for your site is one of the most basic and important tasks in SEO. Back links are valuable if and only if you actively pursue them, unless Google is intelligent enough to suspect that those links are generated only to boost the page rank, which can ruin the entire effect of it. Unfortunately, some people still carry this wrong notion that any inbound link is valuable even if the page is devoid of content.

However, beginners can stick to some simple guidelines for SEO link building:

* Avoid those sites that have pages already containing a good number of links. The higher the number of external links in a page the lower the value it passes with those links.

* To build valuable links you need to create a relevant niche first. Try to get into the neighborhood of the leading websites in your industry and get links for your keywords from the sites topping the Google search engine’s list.

* Quality content with relevant information is what your site should contain in order to gain popularity.

* Join Forums and Social Medias, which provide good platforms for increasing contacts. It helps your content get noticed by others and benefits the process of link building in turn.

* Try to get links from the websites that share links with your competitors.

* Be skeptic while reciprocating a link back to the site from which you have received a link. It may negate the value of your page if you link it to a site having a disreputable back-link profile.

Remember link building is not just about getting a link from another website. It is equally important who you link to. Build links to quality sites, maintain transparency and stay out of Google’s suspicion in order to improve your page rank.
