One of the most isolated metros, Perth, the capital of Western Australia, is closer to the Indonesian islands than to Adelaide. But it’s Australia’s fourth largest city, and a vibrant economic node of an extended hinterland of major mining, petroleum and agricultural export industries. Perth jobs hold out many options. Previously, because of its geographical isolation, Perth jobs had been few. But all that changed with time.
Post-war, suburbs became part of Perth. Jobs were created as transportation improved. Spacious, relatively low-cost works were built with little congestion of traffic, parking space, etc. Australia’s east-west rail connections were upgraded, and a terminal freight complex built. Perth jobs were created in heavy industry – steel, aluminum, oil & gas, nickel – as it became the main service area for resource industries, such as gold, diamonds, mineral sands and coal.
With its large population and its economic leverage, Perth has also created development opportunities for many other businesses focused on local or extensive and diversified markets. Over six decades, Perth’s economy has been steadily mutating from manufacturing towards services. Although most services relate to extraction of resources, followed by agriculture, Perth jobs mainly provide services to Perth’s people – in health, education, trade, public and private services, especially since post-World War II population growth.
There are all kinds of Perth jobs today – engineer jobs, banking jobs, call centre jobs, IT jobs, part time jobs, sales jobs, trade jobs and many more.
